Patients’ Aid supporting health and saving lives at JPMC
It is said rightly that those who empathise with the suffering of others truly embody the spirit of humanity. Patients’ Aid is a nonprofit organisation bridging the gap between life-saving medical care and the communities that need it most. At JPMC, the foundation’s support has enabled the hospital to offer free radiology care to over 700,00 patients annually, many of whom come from the most underprivileged regions of Pakistan, including remote areas of Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab.
With over 20 medical facilities and cutting-edge treatment options, JPMC has become a lifeline for those facing life-threatening illnesses. To date, Patients’ Aid has facilitated more than 4,500 radiosurgery sessions and over 20,000 radiotherapy sessions. Each year, 782,000 radiological diagnostics, such as MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, mammograms, and ultrasounds, are performed to detect and diagnose illnesses in underserved communities.
If you want to learn more about mammograms and breast cancer, we’ve dedicated an entire month to raising awareness, celebrating breast cancer survivors, and empowering women to seek the treatment they deserve.
Patients Aid transforming lives through technology and compassion
A cornerstone of this success is Jinnah Hospital’s radiology department, Pakistan’s largest of its kind. Thanks to the Patients’ Aid Foundation, this department was built from the ground up and is now fully equipped with an extensive range of diagnostic tools to serve more than 2,000 patients daily. The department includes:
- 20 X-rays and fluoroscopy machines
- 2 endoscopy machines
- 5 CT scan machines
- 2 mammography machines
- 1 PET-CT Scan
- 42 US Dopplers
- 5 MRI Scans
- 2 DEXA scans
- 4 Echo machines
- 1 Elastography machine
These resources have been made possible through the unwavering support of generous donors and the Sindh government, who have enabled the Foundation to offer diagnostic services completely free of charge.
Beyond diagnostics, the Patients’ Aid Foundation has revolutionised cancer care at JPMC with the introduction of non-invasive treatments like CyberKnife. This innovative therapy provides early-stage cancer patients with a precise, pain-free option for treatment, saving lives that would otherwise be lost. Normally, this treatment would cost a significant amount, but thanks to the Foundation’s donors, it is provided at no cost to the patients.
While the cost of treating one cancer patient with the CyberKnife is approximately Rs. 100,000, your generous donations make this life-saving treatment accessible to those in need. Every rupee you donate goes directly toward saving lives, ensuring that no patient is turned away due to financial limitations.
