Patients’ Aid – JPMC is founded in 1990 has transformed Jinnah Hospital, Karachi providing cutting edge health care facilities. Its mission is to empower free, quality healthcare in Pakistan. In last 30 years, Jinnah Hospital (JPMC) has been revolutionized by Patients’ Aid with state of the art infrastructure, systems, machinery & equipment and staff. Trained nurses, doctors & technicians along with other staff have been facilitating patients tirelessly.

The “Global Hero”: Well-known story of a woman
Dr. Seemin Jamali, known as the “Iron Lady,” took on the role of Executive Director of the JPMC emergency ward in 2016. Throughout her career, she has treated over 200 victims of bomb blasts, gunshots, accidents, and plane crashes. Managing a ward that handles approximately 1,500 patients daily, she attends to 75% of Karachi’s emergency cases.
In an interview, Dr. Jamali highlighted the challenges of being a woman in charge of the hospital, facing threats and attacks. Despite these difficulties, she asserted that she never turned away anyone in need of medical assistance, providing care to every kind of patient. Her community and hospital colleagues refer to her as the “Iron Lady” due to her resilience and unwavering commitment.
Globally recognized as a “Global Hero” by the World Health Organization (WHO) for her remarkable services during COVID, Dr. Jamali earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her exceptional contributions. Upon her retirement, she expressed contentment with the diverse range of services, both positive and challenging, that she contributed to at JPMC.
Patients’ Aid has transformed Gynaecology and Obstetrics Ward for Women at Jinnah Hospital
Patients’ Aid with the support of generous donors has constructed and inaugurated a new Gynaecology and Obstetrics Ward at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) Karachi, named after Dr. Shereen Zulfiqar Bhutta offering Free consultation and medical services to pregnancy & gynaecological issues to women facing financial hardship. The 60-bed unit provides comprehensive maternity and gynaecological care, addressing the needs of underprivileged women in Karachi, Sindh and beyond. Family planning and post-pregnancy healthcare are also emphasized as crucial aspects of maternal care.
