Cyberknife department - JPMC Patients' Aid Foundation

Cancer is not just a topic to discuss and forget, it is a serious health challenge that affects thousands of people in Pakistan every day, causing pain, fear, and loss.

Patients’ Aid Foundation stands at the frontline of this fight, educating communities about cancer and providing patients with a second chance at life, so they can live fully for themselves and their loved ones. During this cancer awareness month, we proudly share the inspiring stories of our patients, stories made possible by the generosity of donors whose contributions in the path of Allah transform lives and give hope where it is needed most.

Since its inception, Patients’ Aid has remained committed to one mission: making quality healthcare in Karachi and Pakistan accessible to all, regardless of financial or social background. No one should suffer simply because they cannot afford treatment. At Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), supported by Patients’ Aid and generous donors, patients of all ages from a 4-year-old child, a 12-year-old, a 34-year-old adult, to mothers, sisters, and daughters fighting breast cancer, have received life-saving care. These survivors are the real heroes who trusted Patients’ Aid and walked through the doors of Jinnah Hospital, one of Pakistan’s largest and oldest public hospitals.

Thanks to the generous support of donors, JPMC Karachi now has fully functional oncology departments equipped with advanced technology such as CyberKnife, Tomotherapy, and Radixact X9, offering free cancer treatment in Karachi for patients who cannot afford it. From diagnosis to post-treatment care and medicine, every service is provided without cost, saving lives that would otherwise be at risk. By supporting Patients’ Aid, you can help bring hope, healing, and a second chance to countless patients across Pakistan.

Stories of Courage and Survival, Real heroes who never gave up

Today, Patients’ Aid proudly shares the inspiring stories of those who faced the formidable challenge our society calls “cancer” and emerged victorious. Here ar their journeys:

The Story of Muhammad Alam!

Our youngest patient, four-year-old Muhammad Alam, came to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) with what seemed like a small health issue, only to be diagnosed with kidney cancer. For his parents and loved ones, the news was devastating, but Muhammad’s courage shone through. He bravely underwent surgery at such a young age, and his fight didn’t stop there.

Thanks to the Patients’ Aid Foundation, Muhammad Alam received advanced Radixact X9 radiation therapy, a cutting-edge treatment provided free of cost at JPMC Karachi. Today, he is doing well, attending his sessions with a smile, and showing the world that even the tiniest fighters can be the strongest.

Your support can give more children like Muhammad a second chance at life.

The Story of Arsalan!

Twelve-year-old Arsalan, a TomoTherapy patient, came to the hospital with nothing more than difficulty moving his neck. What began as a simple problem soon turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. His diagnosis shattered his family’s world, but they refused to surrender to fear. With immense courage, Arsalan endured surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, each step a test of his strength and determination.

After conventional treatments, Arsalan’s doctors turned to a groundbreaking solution, CyberKnife Radiosurgery, an advanced AI-powered technology that destroys tumor cells with precision while protecting healthy tissue. Thanks to the Patients’ Aid Foundation, this cutting-edge treatment was provided completely free of cost at the JPMC CyberKnife Department in Karachi.

Every donation to Patients’ Aid Foundation helps give children like Arsalan a second chance at life through access to world-class, AI-driven cancer care. Your compassion can turn fear into hope and despair into healing.

Story of Enayataullah

At age 34, Enayatullah, a humble taxi driver from Kabul, Afghanistan, found his life turned upside down by a tumor dangerously close to his jugular vein, a condition that left him battling constant pain and fear for five long years. The treatment he needed cost over 2.1 million PKR, a sum far beyond his means. With his family struggling back home and every day a fight for survival, hope seemed like a distant dream.

That dream began to return when a friend told him about the CyberKnife Treatment Facility at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi, supported by Patients’ Aid Foundation. For the first time, Enayatullah saw a chance of light through the darkness.

“I have faced so many challenges,” he shared, his voice heavy with emotion. “Private treatment was never possible for me. But here, I found people who didn’t just treat my illness, they gave me a chance to live again.”

Thanks to the unwavering support of Patients’ Aid at Jinnah Hospital and the generosity of its donors, Enayatullah received the life-saving treatment he once thought was impossible. Today, he looks forward to reuniting with his family, filled with renewed hope and heartfelt gratitude.

Cancer Awareness Month

Like October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, November also serves as an important reminder to raise awareness about various types of cancers, including pancreatic, lung, stomach (gastric), and carcinoid/neuroendocrine tumors.

The purpose of November’s awareness efforts is to educate, guide, and empower people to seek help, reminding them that they are never alone and should never give up.  Patients’ Aid continues to use every opportunity to discuss health-related topics with the public, ensuring that individuals are informed about different conditions. This awareness not only fosters understanding but also encourages early diagnosis and timely treatment, because it’s never too late to take charge of your health.
