Help Patients’ Aid provide 100 Stretchers for A&E Ward, Jinnah Hospital (JPMC), Karachi

Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), commonly known as Jinnah Hospital, is Pakistan’s largest government medical facility spanning across 70 acres and with the Patients’ Aid healthcare revolution stands as a beacon of hope amid the pervasive grip of poverty. Patients’ Aid has transformed 20 wards and has enabled JPMC to provide world class medical facilities to 12000 patients visiting JPMC every single day from Karachi, Sind, Balochistan and other parts of the country.

Urgent Appeal: 100 Stretchers needed for A&E Patients of JPMC

The Accident & Emergency Department at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) receives 75% of the city’s emergency cases. With 2000 patients coming in everyday the shortage of stretchers at JPMC demands urgent attention. According to hospital experts at least 100 more stretchers are needed to provide timely critical care and save precious lives.

Imagine the anxiety and pain of a patient arriving in an emergency room only to find they have to wait for a stretcher before receiving treatment. The chaotic environment of the ER only heightens the sense of urgency and helplessness compromising patient dignity. This is the reality JPMC’s dedicated A&E staff face everyday.

In 2008, the Patients Aid with the help of its generous donors transformed JPMC’s  Accident & Emergency Department, revolutionising patient care with advanced medical facilities. However, despite these advancements over time, the need to do more arises to bring relief to the patients.

Stretchers: A Crucial Component of Hospital’s Operations

In any healthcare setting stretchers are indispensable for patients facing acute medical emergencies such as heart attacks, accidents or other emergencies. These critical conditions demand immediate and specialized care, necessitating swift transport of patients to emergency departments or intensive care units. Alongside patients with spinal trauma or multiple fractures, rely on stretchers to ensure their safe movement without exacerbating existing injuries. In such critical conditions, stretchers serve as an essential tool in facilitating prompt medical treatment and minimize the risk of further injury by providing a stable platform for crucial medical assessments and interventions.

Beyond mere patient transport, stretchers play a vital role in hospital operations by alleviating strain on healthcare staff, minimising complications, and facilitating the delivery of life-saving treatments. Thus, ensuring adequate stretcher availability and meticulous maintenance is essential to enhancing patient care.
