Patients’ Aid Brings Back the Largest Ride ‘Bike a Cause 2’ For Fighting Breast Cancer
Patients’ Aid Bike A Cause is not just a ride; it’s a movement ‘Karachi Kay Dost; Jinnah Kay Saath’ with a vision to provide quality healthcare and save precious lives in a city where access to basic healthcare is still a dream for many.
This ride brings together the benevolent citizens of Karachi, the corporate world and Patients’ Aid to fight together to heal humanity.
Patients’ Aid Bike A Cause is returning this October, to battle breast cancer in a country where 80,000 women are being diagnosed with it every year and nearly 40,000 dying due to late diagnosis, lack of funds or unavailability of adequate healthcare. In this sad state of affairs, Patients’ Aid is a ray of hope that has revolutionised JPMC with modern infrastructure, state of the art facilities and trained staff, absolutely free for all.
Patients’ Aid Bike a Cause Returns – With a Greater Purpose
Last year’s Bike a Cause was a phenomenal success that raised significant funds to support Thalassemia treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Patients’ Aid Foundation is bringing back the event, this time for an even more pressing cause: Breast Cancer Diagnosis and treatment in collaboration with Faysal Bank as Title Sponsor and other corporate partners including Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Sapphire, B Braun, Jubilee General Insurance, National Foods, Honda Atlas, Bank Al Falah, Bank Al Habib, Noor International and more.
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, hundreds of cyclists will ride to Jinnah Hospital, Karachi from every part of the city not just for sport, but for solidarity, with every kilometer covered representing hope, awareness, and action for breast cancer patients across Pakistan.
The event is not just about fundraising. It is a bold statement: that the right to healthcare should not be determined by income, gender, or background. It is a call to action to ensure early diagnosis, access to timely treatment, and support systems for women across the country.
Breast Cancer Awareness Needs More Than a Month
October is recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but for many women in Pakistan, awareness is just the beginning of a long, difficult journey. Treatment options are expensive, and the majority of patients cannot afford the high costs at private hospitals. Many women delay care simply because they cannot afford it, or because they are not aware that treatment is even possible.
Patients’ Aid Foundation, a leading healthcare NGO in Pakistan, understands this gap, and is stepping up to close it. Operating across 20 of the 28 wards at JPMC, Patients’ Aid Foundation has been working tirelessly since 1990 to make healthcare accessible for the underserved. From revamping hospital infrastructure to providing state-of-the-art equipment, trained staff, and free medicine, the foundation is deeply committed to transforming public healthcare in Pakistan.
Alongside infrastructure, it also runs continuous health advocacy campaigns, dispelling myths, challenging taboos, and spreading awareness across communities.
This October, it’s taking that mission further, with Bike a Cause 2 as its flagship campaign for breast cancer awareness, diagnosis and treatment.
A Historic Milestone The Launch of the Breast Cancer Radiation Bay
One of the most transformative projects in Pakistan’s healthcare landscape is about to become a reality, and it’s happening right at Jinnah Hospital.
Thanks to a generous $4 million donation from the Edhi Foundation, Patients’ Aid Foundation and JPMC are launching the first-ever dedicated Breast Cancer Radiation Bay in the country, named The Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi Breast Radiation Bay, in tribute to two icons of humanitarian service.
This specialized unit will include:
- Helix TomoTherapy units
- Fan Beam CT Scanners
- Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT)
- Deep Inhalation Breath Hold (DIBH) technology
The center will be able to treat up to 160 women per day once fully operational and will be run exclusively by women to facilitate women.
