Patients’ Aid JPMC “Premier League 25” To Fund Neurotrauma Surgeries

On July 19, 2025, the Patients’ Aid Foundation organized a cricket tournament, The Premier League 2025, at Moin Khan Academy in Karachi, with one powerful goal, to raise funds for neurotrauma surgeries for patients suffering from life-threatening head and neck injuries coming to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
The event brought together corporate teams, well-known personalities, and healthcare advocates under one banner. These efforts will help provide life saving treatment to the growing number of patients arriving at JPMC, where over 2,000 individuals enter the emergency department every single day. Many of these cases involve critical brain and spine trauma, conditions that need urgent surgery. Unfortunately, most of these patients cannot afford treatment due to their financial backgrounds.
This tournament was more than just a match, it was part of a continuing mission by Patients’ Aid JPMC to ensure that every patient receives quality healthcare regardless of their financial background.
The Urgent Need for Life Saving Head & Neck Surgeries
The emergency department at JPMC is known to be one of the busiest in Pakistan, managing a substantial influx, over 75% of of accident related trauma cases from Karachi on a daily basis. A significant portion of these patients are young individuals from economically disadvantaged families mostly from Karachi but also from remote regions of Sindh and Balochistan. For them, access to timely and specialized surgical care is often a matter of survival, yet private treatment remains far beyond their financial reach.
In such circumstances, the role of the Patients’ Aid JPMC becomes critically important. Committed to strengthening public healthcare in Pakistan, the Foundation’s core mission is to provide completely free, high-quality medical treatment to those most in need. The recent cricket fundraiser was dedicated to one of the most complex and underfunded areas of care, neurotrauma surgery, which involves intricate procedures targeting injuries of the brain, spinal cord, and cervical region at Patients’ Aid revamped Neurotrauma Department with 2 state of the art, dedicated operation theaters, 20 bedded HDU and 6 bedded ICU
Funds raised through this initiative will directly support the costs associated with life saving surgeries, intensive care admissions, essential medications, and post-operative rehabilitation free of cost. It marks a significant advancement in the ongoing effort to revolutionise JPMC not only as a leading government hospital in terms of scale but also as one of the best hospitals in Karachi, recognized for its impact, accessibility, and clinical excellence.
