Pakistan State Oil and Patients’ Aid Foundation Unite to Strengthen Vascular Surgery Care at JPMC

In a country where medical emergencies rise by the hour, whether due to road accidents, violent incidents, chronic illnesses, or critical diabetic complications, the burden on public healthcare continues to mount. For thousands of underprivileged Pakistanis, especially those without financial means, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Karachi is often their only hope for survival.

Recognized among the oldest & largest public hospitals in Karachi, JPMC stands tall as a symbol of public healthcare. But its impact wouldn’t be possible without the enduring partnership with Patients’ Aid Foundation, a leading healthcare NGO committed to enabling world class quality, free treatment to the most vulnerable communities.

Patients’ Aid Revolutionized the Vascular Surgery Department at Jinnah Hospital, Karachi

Patients arrive at JPMC daily, often in critical condition, some brought in after accidents, others suffering from life-threatening vascular diseases, trauma, or advanced-stage diabetic complications. Many come from remote and marginalized regions of Pakistan. They arrive not just with injuries, but with desperation, and the quiet hope of being treated without the burden of medical bills.

JPMC’s Vascular Surgery Department handles some of the acute, complex, and most life-threatening cases like arterial blockages, aneurysms, diabetic limb ischemia, and traumatic injuries, including gunshot wounds and road traffic accidents. Time is often the difference between recovery and irreversible loss.

Yet, due to inadequate resources, the department was only able to treat around 600 patients annually, while over 1,500 required urgent surgical care. Many patients were placed on indefinite waitlists, with their conditions worsening by the day. This shortage of medical equipment was not just a logistical issue, it was a crisis of survival.

PSO’s Generosity Enhances Critical Care at JPMC

Witnessing the mounting pressure, Patients’ Aid Foundation reached out to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for support. The aim was clear: acquire the vital medical equipment enabling vascular surgery accessible without delays in treatment. We are grateful to PSO for this generous donation and for making this possible for the people of Pakistan.

PSO, recognizing the critical need, responded with a timely and substantial donation. Their contribution facilitated the procurement of essential equipment for the Vascular Surgery Department, tools that would dramatically enhance the Jinnah hospital’s ability to respond to complex and urgent cases.

Thanks to this intervention, JPMC is now better equipped to manage vascular emergencies with efficiency, precision, and compassion.

The ripple effect of PSO’s support goes beyond numbers. Today, patients who would have once waited months for critical surgery are now being treated within days, often saving them from disability or death. JPMC’s Accident and Emergency Department has also seen a significant improvement in operational capacity, resulting in faster triage, better diagnostics, and more effective medical care.

This initiative reflects what’s possible when public institutions, private corporations, and committed non-profit organizations collaborate with a shared purpose: to save lives.

Healing Without Barriers, Support That Truly Saves

What sets this Patients’ Aid PSO partnership apart is its commitment to equity and humanity. All treatment provided through Patients’ Aid at JPMC is entirely free of charge. There is no discrimination, whether a patient is a child from an informal settlement or an elderly person with no family support, the medical care is the same.

This is the heart of Patients’ Aid Foundation, a humanitarian NGO that operates solely on the principles of dignity, public service, and compassion.

Efforts like these are only sustainable with the support of donors. Every rupee counts. Your Zakat, Sadaqah, or Sadqah-e-Jariyah can directly contribute to someone’s speedy recovery.
