This World Health Day Patients’ Aid Ensures Quality Healthcare for All

Quality healthcare is a fundamental human right that every individual should have access to, free of any charge. Yet the underprivileged in Pakistan continue to face limited or no access to quality healthcare services. The right to quality healthcare should not be a privilege, it must be available to everyone, regardless of their financial or social background.

On April 7th, the world observes The World Health Day, a global event aimed at raising awareness about the importance of health and the ongoing challenges faced by underserved communities. It’s a day to reflect on the progress made in improving global health standards and a reminder of the significant work still left to do.

This year, as we observe World Health Day 2025, we recognize not only the importance of health care but also the role of organizations like Patients’ Aid, which is making strides to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has access to life-saving medical care. The dedicated team of Patients’ Aid has brought a healthcare revolution at Jinnah Hospital, a public healthcare facility, which has become a pillar of support for vulnerable populations, providing hope, healing, and a brighter future to those in need.

The Right to Healthcare is Non-Negotiable

Health care isn’t just about treating illness, it’s about ensuring that everyone has access to emergency and other healthcare needs along with awareness about preventive care and the resources necessary for long-term well-being. Every individual deserves the right to live a healthy life, free from the burden of illness. Sadly, many people in Pakistan are unable to receive adequate healthcare for private treatment being too expensive and unavailability of quality healthcare at public facilities. This reality makes it even more urgent to create an equitable healthcare system that serves those who are most vulnerable.

At the heart of this mission is Patients’ Aid, a non-profit organization that has been working tirelessly to ensure that every patient visiting Jinnah hospital Karachi receives quality healthcare. Since its inception in 1990, Patients’ Aid has been committed to helping underserved communities coming to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) seeking treatment and hope.

Thanks to the generosity of compassionate individuals and organizations, Patients’ Aid has been able to fund critical medical departments, ensuring that every patient receives the care they need. Through donations, Patients’ Aid has transformed the lives of thousands of individuals by providing them with access to life-saving treatments.

A Beacon of Hope for Marginalized Communities

Patients’ Aid has been a beacon of hope for Pakistan’s most marginalized populations. With unwavering dedication, the organization has made health care accessible to those who need it most, despite their financial challenges. Through their ongoing efforts, patients who once had no hope of affording medical treatment are now receiving the quality care they need to survive and thrive. On this World Health Day, we reflect on the profound impact Patients’ Aid has had on our most vulnerable communities.

Expanding Healthcare Access Through Generous Donations

One of the driving forces behind the success of Patients’ Aid is the generosity of its donors. Through their unwavering support, the organization has funded over 20 essential departments at JPMC, ensuring that every patient receives the care they deserve, free of charge. Some of the most important contributions made possible by these donations include the establishment of life-saving facilities and services that are exclusive to Pakistan, including:

  • Accident and Emergency Department: Saving 2000 lives every day, providing immediate care to those who need it most.
  • Advanced Radiology Facilities: Offering diagnostic services to over 782,000 patients yearly that help identify life-threatening conditions early.
  • Nephrology and Dialysis Treatments: Providing free kidney care to 50 patients every day alleviating the sufferings from kidney conditions.
  • Specialized Departments in Neurology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, and Gynecology: Offering treatments for a wide range of conditions affecting the community.
  • Blood Bank: Ensuring that life-saving blood is available to those in need, around the clock.
  • Sophisticated Labs and Free Medicine Pharmacy: Offering essential diagnostic tests and medications to patients who cannot afford them.

These services, made possible by the generosity of donors, have already saved countless lives. Donate now to help continue this mission.

Join Us in Healing Lives Through Zakat and Sadaqah

In Pakistan we believe that charity is one of the most powerful ways to contribute to the health and well-being of others. Through zakat, sadaqah, and khairaat, forms of charity prescribed in Islam, generous individuals help provide life-saving treatments to those suffering from serious medical conditions and illnesses. When you donate, your wealth is purified, and you help to heal the lives of countless individuals who are in desperate need.

On World Health Day 2025, we invite you to be part of this noble cause. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a profound difference in the lives of needy patients. Whether you are offering zakat or sadaqah, your contribution will provide someone with the hope and medical treatment they need to live. The relief and joy that fills the hearts of patients when they receive quality medical treatment they could not afford is a testament to the life-changing power of your generosity.

The Impressive Impact of Patients’ Aid at JPMC

Patients’ Aid has made a remarkable impact at JPMC Karachi, helping thousands of patients access the care they desperately need. The numbers speak for themselves:

  • 12,000 patients treated daily at the OPD (Outpatient Department)
  • 2,000 lives saved every day in the Accident and Emergency Department
  • 3,000 radiology diagnostic procedures performed daily
  • 12 CyberKnife cancer treatments administered daily
  • 400 patients receive free medicines every day
  • 400 cancer patients treated daily
  • 70 childbirths delivered daily
  • 50 dialysis treatments performed daily

These numbers demonstrate just how crucial the work of Patients’ Aid is at JPMC. Without the generous donations that fund these services, many of these lives would have been lost or left untreated. Every donation counts and can help save even more lives.
